The Wii Shopping channel doesn't use GC Memory Cards. You can store your VC saves on your SD Card though. Just go under options & copy it there.

Have patience! The system only started in December so is fairly new, and 2 to 4 titles are added each week.. .. .. If you've never played it, try Super Mario World. You won't be dissappointed!
Briefly back to your memory card issues.. .. .. the GC memory only works with GC games, the SD is useful for copying data from your pc to your Wii (jpegs and mp3s) and also backing up your save games from Wii titles and the VC.. ..
Sorry to tell you this, but you may need to buy (if you didn't win one!) a classic controller. It connects to the wiimote in the same way that the nunchuck does and makes lots of the retro games more playable, due to a more appropriate button layout, than using the GC controller.
