whack it in your hand several times as hard as you can stand. this is the recommmended fix from nintendo

it's rare, but your motion sensor is stuck, and you can free it up.

I can confirm that this is what's needed - quite a hard smack of the controller against my hand. I had to do this last week and it worked for me.

Yes... quite the remedy... If my controller screws up I rather Nintendo replace it.
