I need Help with wireless conn.

I have a 2.4 GHz Wireless Broadband Router and the Wii console that i own is set up about 12 away from it. I have many issues with the updating the system and connecting it to the internet/ wii connect 24. It will Load painstakingly slow for no reason. The xbox 360 live works fine with the router yet the wii can't even get to half way updating in under 45 minutes. Than when it is like 85% its an error in the thing and i woluld have to start over It pisses me off. I need help.
