Tomorrow is the day I get my 3DS in the morning. I'm spending all day playing Ocarina of Time 3D and checking out the wonderful features of the 3DS.

Today I got a 3DS! So far I have enjoyed it. The 3D is not just a gimmick, as many people think. The only game I currently own is the Legend of Zelda: Ocirina of Time. However, I hope to buy Starfox 64 3D and Kid Icarus: Uprising when they come out. I look forward to hearing your opinion on the system, justinvwii!

I love it! I got it early this morning with Ocarina of Time and it took me until tonight to play it because I've been having so much fun with all the other features. I created a better Mii than the Mii Maker did based on the picture of me, which is how I see it being for most people, I've been loving Face Raiders and using the AR Cards. I got the Video app and really liked the OK Go music video, Pokedex app which is very nice for the Pokemon fan, and Netflix! If you don't have a 3DS, you are missing out. There is nothing else like it. Great job, Nintendo. I am one happy person!

I would think that all truly great 3DS game would be just as epic without the 3D. Unless it really wows me, I probably won't being using my 3DS' 3D feature very often, honestly. :lol: Of course, I haven't even seen a 3DS IRL yet, noone I know has the money for one right now. Everyone's saving up for a WiiU among other things, lol. I do tend to write off anything I deem as "unnecessary" a gimmick, so I shouldn't be judgmental until I own one myself. I am curious why you think the 3D isn't a gimmick, though?

I do not think it is a gimmick because in some games, it does enhance gameplay. For example, in Ocirina of Time, the landscapes look beautiful in 3D, and it brings a great sense of depth. In other games, however, it is a distraction and should be turned off. Also, the many features the system comes with are neat and kept me occupied for longer than I expected. They do great to show off the effect and make you want to use it more.

If developers really take the time to make it look right, than it is a worthy addition to gameplay. Outside of that, I guess you could call it a gimmick. In the end, it is all a matter of opinion. Some like it, others don't.

My opinion in a nutshell. I don't mean to say the 3DS' 3D sucks, but it's not necessary for the gameplay. It's certainly cool, but yeah, my opinion is it's just entirely unnecessary. I'm certainly not complaining about the 3DS having it though, lol.
