He’s still regarded as one of the most influential and innovative guitarists of all time, inspiring musicians all across the spectrum, from Brian May and Freddie Mercury of Queen, to Prince, as well as millions of other musicians around the world. Proving that Hendrix’s legacy still looms large, Harmonix and MTV Games have today announced that Hendrix’s music is now exclusive to Rock Band, and to celebrate they will soon have lots of Hendrix tracks available for you to download.

For starters, from March 30th, The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s classic album, Axis: Bold As Love, plus the new Hendrix single, Valleys of Neptune, from the new album of the same name, will be available for download as individual tracks only, via the in-game Rock Band Music Store, for 200 Wii Points per track. More releases are also planned in future. Here’s Janie Hendrix, CEO of Experience Hendrix, talking about Rock Band:

“Much like Jimi’s music, we feel that Rock Band represents an amazing, innovative medium for music discovery and interaction that can have a profound effect on those who experience it. We are extremely pleased to be able to have Jimi Hendrix’s genius musical legacy continue to live on and touch people the world over through Rock Band.”
