M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Air Bender, the much-anticipated live-action film based on the hit Nickelodeon animated TV series, is set to be one of this summer’s big blockbusters, and THQ has scored the exclusive rights, with both DS and Wii games based on the film due for release this June. The Wii game is set to feature all-new unique elements that bring the film’s thrilling action to life and immerse players in the world of bending. The game’s story is told from the perspective of the antagonist Zuko, exiled prince of the Fire Nation, who embarks on a quest to capture the Avatar, a young boy called Aang, so that he can regain his father’s honor. Fans can play as three characters from the film: Aang, Zuko, and* the Blue Spirit, and participate in epic battles, close-quarters combat and lots of difficult and testing challenges.

The controls have been specially adapted to take advantage of the Wii Nunchuk and Remote, with players performing special hand movements specific to each character’s abilities, which include manipulating fire and air and creating destructive forces such as Air Vortexes, Tornadoes Fire Balls and Fire Bombs with which they can take down any enemies that get in their way. Here’s Doug Clemmer, Executive Vice President of THQ’s Kids, Family & Casual Games, talking about the game:

“The Last Airbender video game boasts original gameplay elements that create an experience never previously seen before on the Wii system. The artistic in-game graphics and dynamic combat were designed to fully engage players, while providing an exhilarating and interactive gaming moment.”
