Anybody have any ideas on how to get screen caps and/or video off a Wii?

Also, is the avatar we use in multiplayer the same every time, or do we get random assignments?

I guess they give you a different one in each game. If not, they would give you the opportunity to choose or make the avatar at first during your account name/setup.

You can get video with something called ''Dazzle''. Check out my youtube channel and you can see the quality. It usually costs about 50$ in the U.S.
