Muramasa: The Demon Blade Out Now In Europe-1.052009-12-01 06:24:17Maura SAfter a couple of push-backs, Rising Star Games’ highly acclaimed Muramasa: The Demon Blade was released in PAL territories on 27TH November. The 2D side-scrolling action game tells the story of Kisuke, a fugitive ninja on the run for a crime he doesn’t remember having committed, compelled to search for an unknown katana. Princess Momohime, the game’s other playable character, has been forced to flee from her castle after being possessed by the spirit of the evil swordsman, Jinkuro Izuna. Both Kisuke and Momohime will eventually cross swords with demon blade-wielder Muramasa in this retelling of a classic Japanese folk tale.

There are over 100 swords to collect and level up in the game, improving their speed, power and durability. The game’s visual style, featuring beautifully hand-drawn graphics from the creators of Odin-Sphere, has been highly praised in the press, with good reason. Although the game is played in side-scrolling 2D, the backgrounds are all 3D, and feature traditional Japanese artwork. In the words of Rising Star Games, Muramasa: The Demon Blade “combines gorgeous integration of ancient folklore, traditional Japanese imagery and modern relentless action.” They’re not wrong!

Muramas: The Demon Blade is in stores now, at an S.R.P. of £29.99/€39.99.
