Do N64 games on Virtual Console have the rumble feedback compatibility?

Nintendo: The rumble feature is not supported on N64 games downloaded to the Virtual Console.

Multiplayer games - will these now incorporate an option to allow the second/third/fourth player to connect over the internet to play, as some PC emulators have made possible?

Nintendo: All games will be faithful recreations of the original versions so they will not feature new functions like multiplayer or internet play if the original title did not.

Will the Wii iron out all slow-down that existed in old games, including the 2D formats? It would be great to play all the old games at a silky-smooth framerate, but some retro gamers, for some reason, consider the slowdown to a part of the game's old-school appeal.

Nintendo: The Virtual Console games faithfully reproduces the original game in all areas, including content, movement and expressions. Principle programming, characters, sound etc. have not been changed.

Being as the Wii classic controller cannot be used to play GameCube games, will Nintendo continue to produce and sell GameCube controllers?

Nintendo: No plans have been announced to date. But Nintendo GameCube accessories are still available from all good retailers.

How configurable will controls be? The N64, with its C-buttons, effectively had six face buttons. The VC controller only has 4. How will this mapping work?

Nintendo: Controller layouts will be determined on a game-by-game basis and detailed in the electronic manual.

Will their be any price difference between buying Wii Points through the online Wii Shop Channel and via retail stores?

Nintendo: Wii points will cost the same online as they do in retail. They can be purchased on the Wii Shop Channel using all major credit cards. 2000 points cards will cost €20 (£14) both online and in shops.

Will there be a published release schedule of VC games or will they just come out as and when?

Nintendo: More Virtual console games will be announced at a later date. New Virtual Console titles will be added in 2007 and beyond creating a constantly growing library of games.

How large (in storage terms) will VC games be? At present what is the average size for games on each of the formats?

Nintendo: Games vary in size but approximately NES games will be 1MB, SNES 5MB and N64 32MB.

How will VC games be organised on the channels page? Will each game be an individual channel or can users group say all the titles of one format (SNES) or all the titles of one series (Zelda)?

Nintendo: Each VC title downloaded will be displayed as an individual channel. Users may move these channels around to suit them.

I also heard GameCube controllers could be used to play these games.

I believe the interview alluded to the fact that GC controllers weren't going to be able to be used with VC games

Hmm this smacks of cheapness, one the one hand I'm glad you can download some of the old games (though it has to be said and you have to be thinking it...if you were ever so slightly naughty you can get nigh every console game ever made for free...) but not fixing slowdown on games where it was caused by the hardware? Instead all they've really done is given you a few emulators and you've bought the roms.

Also, I was under the impression that there was a finite amount of channels? Something along the lines of 40? So if each game gets its own channel then what happens if you get more than 40...?

Personally I can't see the harm in allowing the games to connect to a server so if you want to play a multiplayer mode you can do with other people who have the game rather than real life friends. The only reason I can think of not doing this is that it would take extra time.

Ah well I wasn't getting the Wii for the VC anyway.

So they aren't adding online multiplayer to VC games? VC = Useless to me. I knew Nintendo was going to pull this ****. If they don't pull their act together with online play, my Wii will be used as a door stop.

I don't see why they would want to back and re-write old games. If they modified the code for the game then they'd probably be charging more than the sub-$10 prices they are charging now.

LOL very well put. Nintendo games have more of a fanbase that would be so mad if they altered one thing. That's why I think they are keeping them the same. I know I don't want to deal with angry nintendo fans. :) :)

ABC, what are you talking about? The whole point of VC was to bring back well missed games! Not create practicly new games! Not to impress you! Do you even know what Zoo York is?

If you look at how the VC controller plugs in, it will be obvious how the GameCube controller won't fit. Unless you had an adapter.

How are the N64 games faithful recreations if they exclude rumble?!

But you can plug the GameCube controller directly into the console.

Contra is on XBLA and is like $3 and has online play
Street Fighter 2 is on XBLA and is about $8 and also has online play
both games were on nintendo consoles and now are on the xbox with online play. if MS can add online play, why cant nintendo?

Why would Nintendo even want to be like Microsoft? Even more, why would any Nintendo fan want Nintendo to be like Microsoft?

I also might point out, you pay to play on Xbox Live whereas Wii online is free. Microsoft actually makes money by enticing people to play online.

XBOX service is arcade perfect ports with online features. VC is SNES ports with no added features and cost a couple bucks more. I do a little programing myself and I know for a fact that making a game online is not that hard. I think nintendo plan is to rank in a bunch of cash with the VC. Thier target is the older non tech customers who don't know their getting rip off. A friend of mine mother bought a whole bunch of the VC games because she thought it was a great deal comparing it to new Wii games  . Thats there plan and their target customers.

why do you guys ***** so much about the slightest ****?

if you want to play it online, get an emulator. they've been promising from day one that you would not be able to play the VC games online. they are however developing *NEW* VC games.

You are right though, it is easy to allow for, SNES9X does it with the actual roms, just involves writing a little back end code. I can see them maybe doing it at some point, but it's probably not a priority at this point.

whats the big deal with no online play? the vc is meant to bring back games from the past, not rewrite them and make them completely different. i cant wait til i can get some points

Yeah but some of you are missing the point, it isn't rewriting the games to make them different, you're not changing the story, characters, items or anything. All you're doing is taking the V.S screen and instead of having someone sat next to you plugging a remote in connecting to someone else online.

End result? Game stays the same, V.S mode is now online as well, people are happy. You cannot tell me in good faith that that would be expensive to do...

wow everyone is taking this to such extremes.. its kinda funny..

first of all, to all of you "die hard gamers" who say that the VC should be bringing back old games, and not rewriting completely knew ones, stop being f***ing drama queens....simply adding online multiplayer to a game isnt rewriting a new game so stop making it into some huge problem with changing classics, taking a game with multiplayer, and making it so the player's you're playing against dont have to be at your house is in no way changing the game itself, so just stop whining..

that being said, i dont really care that there is no online play, im fine with the originals, doesnt matter to me, online play woulda been cool, but im not gunna cry over the lack of it..
