In all my experience selling home video equipment, the difference is probably negligible. Unless the cable was made to a really low spec, you probably won't be able to tell any difference at all. Gold plating is more for show that true improvement in signal...it's a marketing thing.
Now if we were talking high end amps, I'd probably be saying something else. But that's not the case here.
