I actually could see neither winning, and another format coming out in a year or two that takes the steam from both of them. I've always thought they were both rolled out pretty pre-maturely, dvd's are still an incredibly strong presence

I agree to a point. I don't know about another format coming in though. I think it will be awhile till there is a clear winner. The two formats will co-exist for quite awhile.

But honestly I do think blu ray will come out on top once HD TV's are in more households. Nowadays if people want a TV, they almost have no choice but to get an LCD or something of that nature. HD is being forced on the market so to speak, and all previous formats and HD less tv signals look like crap on them. People will be forced to get a new video player of some sort even just for the upscaling or put up with a poor image.

For right now DVD still has it's stranglehold and it will for awhile. For me personally, even though I have a PS3, when I go looking for new movies I go and look at DVD's. It's just natural at this point. As an after thought when I'm practically done shopping I'm like "hmm I could get blu ray...mmm...not a good selection...mmm...too expensive anyway...hmmm some of these $6.99 DVD's look pretty good actually. I think I'll get some of those"

Well one thing I would like to point out is that Sony isn't in charge of Blu-ray. There are a bunch of companies in it and most of them don't want to allow porn on it, it isn't really Sony's choice like the article suggests. Also porn isn't such a big factor anymore, since most of it is acquired through the internet. But movies are a very big factor. A format can't really win if it only has half the movies of the other format.....

as an employee at best buy, i also predict blu ray to win. the library for blu ray is bigger. next time u see the release of a new movie, pay attention, u'll noticed an HD dvd realese isnt found, like Wild Hogs for example
