romance of three kingdoms

this may be a stupid? but does anyone know how to save the game on romance of the three kindoms wall of fire.....used to love the old romance on my nintendo back in the early 90s so bought this one lol.....now i cant save the game and it takes way to long to play the whole game in one sitting
