Yes, in fact you can ski and there is a huge selection of skis and snowboards -- to answer your question more thoroughly. There are 25 of each for every character. The only thing that kind of sucks is that a lot of the boards and skis are just from characters. For example, if you beat a person in a 1-on-1 challenge (spread across free ride), you unlock their board and skis but they have no affect on your stats.
