My wii is currently updated to 4.2E and it's from the UK. I don't want to update it but will Wii Motion Plus work on it if I don't update it? Will Skyward Sword when it comes out?

It is best if you update it, saving you trouble later on. Unless you have a reason NOT to update it, then you're on your own.

A lot of newer 1st party games tend to come with the newest firmware/a prompt for the newest firmware download, so yes, most likely.
