Is there a way to update my wii?

I have a Wii version 4.2e ... it is moded (most probably soft) ... I want to use the channels but most of them require an update first ... but i have been told that updating might brick my wii forever ... Is there a safe way to update??

There is a way.... get rid of the mod that is on your wii , and support the wii for the console that it is....then you should be able to update....

Threads about modding and hacking are a no no on here, this site is all above board....
