trouble w/GC memory card for Wii and help w/Zelda twilight

I bought a memory card on ebay for Wii. it was advertised as GC card for wii. I am playing Zelda twilight princess every time I turn on the game it say improper device in memory card slot 1. But if I take it out and plug it back in a few times it will eventually read it.Y?also I am in the zoras fortress under lake Hylia, I have started the river flowing on one side and beat one guy who gave me a piece that can shoot out and grab areas with and pull me to that area but now I am going in circles. any clues would be appreciated. Thanks.

The water temple? You're gonna need to be a lot more descriptive bud, that temple is tricky.
