TV for my Wii

Hello everyone. First-time poster here.

I got a Wii for Christmas and am playing it on my current TV, which is a 20" CRT. Naturally I'm looking to upgrade to a larger TV. I do not have cable nor do I have a PS3/Xbox 360, so I've ruled out buying a brand new LCD/Plasma 1080p HDTV at this point. I've been checking out Kijiji for used CRT's.

I found a widescreen Sony Wega CRT, model number KV-30HS420. The user manual can be found here: http://esupport.sony.com/CA/perl/model-home.pl?mdl=KV30HS420&LOC=3. It has 1080i native resolution (853 x 1080i to be specific). As far as I can tell the resolution cannot be changed manually (though aspect ratio can be set to 4:3 manually for VC games).

My question is this: How would the Wii fare, from an image quality standpoint, on a CRT TV with 1080i resolution? Would the picture get stretched? I'm aware the Wii runs on 480i/480p resolution. If I'm going to get a CRT, would a 480i provide a better picture than a 1080i?

Thanks in advance.
