This Wii was having a disc read error. I removed the cd drive cover to clean it out, and this part fell on my lap

I have same "spare" part
I just had the same thing happen to me. I was replacing the laser, and while taking my Wii apart the same part in your pick fell out onto my table. I have scanned disassembly videos try to see if I could spot the part but no luck.
Did you ever get an answer? Did you put you Wii back together and get it working again?

Mystery Solved!
I solved the mystery. The part slides into a space along the side/front of the CD and it looks like it's involved in controlling the loading/unloading of a disk.
If I did this right, I attached two pics, one with the part sitting outside and one with it inserted correctly into the slot.
