This after the biggest launch of a system in the history beating the Xbox 360 and PS3 launches. Director of Marketing and Sales, Rose Lappin said in a statement:

“We are pleased that Wii has achieved this benchmark, but we are ecstatic that it attained this whilst also reaching new audiences and expanding the scope of our entire industry. We promised we would bring gaming to the masses, I think this is proof that we are heading in the right direction.

“Wii Sports is still performing very well as a primary vehicle to encourage non-gamers towards trying out the Wii experience”.

Also included in the press release was a release date for Super Paper Mario, a title which has taken a backburner over the past few months. The title is pencilled in for a September launch while Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition will be out on the 5th July, Mario Party 8 on 19th July and PANGYA! Golf with Style is set for a September release.

No firm European release has yet been announced although we hope to hear of one soon. We'll keep you posted!

Yay! Super Paper Mario in September, can't wait!

Also if you go the vgchartz.com and set the graph to compare the sales of all 3 consoles in Australia, you'll find that the sales are much closer here than they are in America.
