Konami announced today that Yu-Gi-Oh! is back on Wii again with 5D’s Duel Transer, with a completely original storyline set around episode 45 of the popular animated Cartoon Network series, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D. Fans will get the chance to take part in the Duel of Legend Cup, created specifically for the game, where they will face 20 characters from the series. The new adventure begins with mysterious characters from the Duelist Corp descending on the island of Ragnarok, with the aim of competing in the competition being held by one of the game’s original characters.

Fans will also be excited to hear that the game includes more than 4,500 of the most up-to-date cards, including Star Strike Blast, releasing in November 2010. Three exclusive trading cards will be inclued in the pack: Closed Forest, Fighter Ape and Roaring Earth. Players can also scan as many as 5,000 trading cards into the game to unlock cards and build their decks faster via the USB compatible scanner. Featured gameplay modes include Free Duel, Story Mode and two-player multiplayer over Wi-Fi.

5D’s Duel Transer marks the second time Yu-Gi-Oh! has appeared on Wii, and Konami promises that it will be “an over the top version from what’s been seen before.” No word as yet on a release date.
