*cough*

hide behind the wall and protect yourself.....when it stops...go up the ladder and look for a key card to activate the turrent and shoot away the other turrents

I DONT KNOW WHAT TO GET THE HANG OF!!!!:cryin:

wtf is the timer for?!?!

Dood. You gotta get off the ship before it blows. Get on the thing that gets you across from the one ship to the other one. Don't worry about killing everyone, just get past them, then hop off the ship before it blows up and sinks. The other timer is to deliver the rocket launcher but that's later.

Hey summer - keep at it! It gets easier as you get used to the intensity of it. I'd say the next easiest character would be Wesker, but you have to get used to using a rifle in relatively close range to take full advantage of him. Then Hunk or Ada (probably about equal), then, for me at least, Leon was the toughest.

I also think it might be easier to try to get through areas first, as opposed to characters. For me, the easiest was the village, then the castle, then the camp, then the waterworld, though the last two were pretty close.

The only "ace weapon" you get for the mercs is the hand cannon, which I think is not that huge an upgrade over the fully loaded broken butterfly, but others may differ.

Once you've got all the "infinite" weapons (the Chicago typewriter, the rocket launcher, the PRL 412 and the hand cannon), then there's no reason to collect any goodies anymore, really, other than health. And if you need more than just a few of those with all that firepower it would be surprising. You get to a point where you only really get hit because you're standing there pondering which weapon to blow away the opponent with.

I tried out Krauser in the Castle last night - my first effort at Mercs since getting the hand cannon and going back to the regular game - and I ran it up to 135k! I couldn't believe it. After struggling so hard to get to 60. It just goes to show you that without the pressure to complete it, it gets a lot easier.

One hint for the village that I discovered is that if you run around and just collect all the clocks first, getting the one in the house to the southwest last prior to climbing up the ladder, you can just stay up there and keep knocking down the ladder, pummeling all zombies and chainsaw ladies from above without risk of attack other than the guys who throw the hatchets. That works for all 5 characters.

UPDATE: The house with the last clock is actually to the northwest. And it's important to stock up on a bit of ammo before hiding upstairs like I said. The best place to kill a few in order to collect ammo is probably right around the spot where the other treasure chest clock is. Once you grab that, kill a few, get them following you (but not too close), you can position yourself up there and do damage from above.

Just wanted to update everyone on my progress. Finished the regular game on Leon mode yesterday afternoon. Began Separate Ways and am currently on Chapter 5. Thanks to everyone who's given me some helpful hints so far.

Thanks for the advice pkstudios,am very happy to follow it, think we pretty much went through the main game at the same time as well. Am so impressed with your score in the castle last night. I know exactly what you mean about when the pressure is off, after I got all four five stars with Krauser, took him out for a victory lap and got up to 95,000 in the castle.
Will definitely try doing all the areas first, so, off to get some practice in with Mr Wesker!!!! Thanks again.

Summer

Woot! I'm on my 2nd run of the main game and got the 1,000,000 pesetas at the castle level. I got the chicago typewriter and will probably continue with that. I'll probably go back to the save before the purchase and see how crazy it is w/ the IRL :). The 2nd run went WAY faster than I thought. Running around with the chicago typewrite is lots of fun too, lol.

yeah, i got my Chicago Typewriter the other day, and damn, who needs anything else? im saving up to get the IRL too, so i'll never need ammo again!

...but the chicago typewriter has a disadvantage.....it lowers your accuracy extremely fast....which i dont want
