From next year A LOT more people will start coming to the North (well, like Liverpool and Manchester) rather than just going to London when they come to England...the things happening in Liverpool at the moment to get ready for next year look amazing! The hole area, and the outskirts are being almost completely re-vamped! I think more concerts will start coming as well to perform in that new concert arena on the docks, and maybe in a few years if they use Stanley Park (OH yeah!) to host concerts, then certainly more will play there...then when that super-casino in Manchester is built that will attract a lot of tourists, and they're even thinking of doing up Blackpool (how it does need sorting though!). But yeah, I think loads more people will choose to come to the North-West at least, there's even going to be a direct flight from Liverpool to New York
Obviously people will still want to go to London, I imagine that if you live in another country it'd sound really good to go there, but it's nothing special really - a bus tour and you're done! Maybe I'm just being biased though, meh, who cares.

If london wasn't all it was cracked up to be people wouldn't keep coming here.. Toursists (who are mostly not kids (which is the main base of this forum)) are intrested in the old architecture that london is built on, as well as the many big landmarks. thats what counts

Erm, well I'm not a scouser so maybe it isn't 'such a scouser thing to say'.

London isn't all its cracked up to be, its just, in a country as small as ours compared to the States, they're probably only going to come to one area - and seens as London's the capital that's where they'll go. Not all tourists, whatever age, are interested in old architecture and the many big landmarks, but okay they will want to see them, but why not see the one's in Liverpool? There's enough there for people to see and enjoy as much as London, whatever age, and whatever their interests are. Also, when I said 'a bus tour and you're done', well unless the tourist has a major interest in architecture, and would like a close up of the bricks and whatever and how it's been built, then a bus tour is the best option - you get to see them all, and you'll learn about them from the tour guide.
But the point I was really trying to make is that people should consider other places rather than just London when they come to England, because there's a lot more that can be seen outside the capital, and particularly in the North-West.

I'm close enough to be a scouser? Is that because I live nearby? That's like saying, on a Global scale, those who live in England are close enough to be French. Erm, no. The fact of the matter is I am not a scouser and never will be one, therefore any attempts to claim that I am a scouser are simply ludacrous...also, if I was to talk about, say, Norway being a great place, would that make me Norwegian? I don't think so somehow (so erm, case closed then yeah? Good)...I talk about it being a great place because, from what I can see, it is. Why would anyone ever go to Cardiff please? Now that's silly! Why shouldn't one compare London to Liverpool regarding tourism?

Well, well, it seems you can't all agree, and I agree that there isn't much to do in England but look at scenery, most of the older generation would probably prefer the countryside then. I went on holiday where it was all countryside somewhere by Somerset and it bored me to death but not my nan, see, as part of the younger crowd I still have it in me to kick out and do more adventurous things than use my eyesight.

Being from the Wirral means you are not a scouser, it's just close to Liverpool. I actually live in mainland Liverpool, poor Lewi here has to go under the tunnel to get to here, being a good 50 odd minutes of traffic. Liverpool have things to do for tourism, there's tourist information centres if you're lost, but I actually like living here because it's always changing. It's just less crowded than London and quite orderly, a year ago they wouldn't even let me on the bus tour because me and my friends had nothing to do, we had to be over 16 or they think we'd be uncomfortable passengers.

As for Cardiff, I have never been to any city in Wales and have a frequent distaste on all my holidays to Wales, because the south of Wales is so far away from me, I only have the north to visit, and I tell you - most boring experience of my life. Everywhere you go there are things orientated for families who would bring their kids under 10 to the attractions and awful caravan entertainment.

Personally, I'd just go abroad.

Yeah I agree that most people will choose London. But what I'm trying to say is that people should start looking elsewhere, other than London, when coming to England. And the work going on currently in Liverpool will make it such a great place to come for tourists, adding to the things that people already like to see.

Frogger it only takes me 15 minutes to get to Liverpool! Bus, train, car, 15, 20 minutes tops...unless its the rush hour, or a Thursday afternoon (only one side of the Wallasey tunnel is open), then it might take a bit longer on the bus or in a car, so I just get the train!
