Nyko Technologies has today announced that its Type Pad Pro for the Wii is available now at major North American retailers for an MSRP of $29.99. The Type Pad Pro features a full QWERTY thumbpad, making it perfect for typing on the Wii, chatting during games, online navigation and Wii Shop Channel browsing. At the same time as using the Type Pad Pro, you can still maintain pointer functionality with either the Nyko Wand or Wii Remote.

The Type Pad Pro is fully supported by applications that use keyboard input, such as the Opera Browser, Animal Crossing: City Folk and Wii friend messaging. It also uses Nyko’s Trans-Port Technology, which enables the A and B buttons to be accessed directly from the device’s two trigger buttons when used with the Nyko Wand. A and B button access on the back of the Type Pad Pro lends itself to smoother, easier scrolling, zooming and clicking when browsing the web. And to cap it all, the Type Pad Pro has a wireless range of up to 25 feet and needs no extra batteries.

Here’s Chris Arbogast, director of marketing at Nyko Technologies, talking about the Type Pad Pro:

“Text input on the Wii had been limited to the on-screen keyboard or large, clunky hardware. We are excited to see the Type Pad Pro release and provide a convenient all-in-one solution to type, navigate and control your Wii experience.”
