PS3 sucks, now tell me why not to think so.

Oh, I stand corrected, so you pre-ordered Wind Waker? Lucky you. :)

BACK ON TOPIC:

Does anyone agree that the Blue-Ray was a wasted add-on to the PS3 making the price sky-rocket?

Yes I do, I think it would've done better for itself without it. PS3 will see better days in years to come, when they are dirt cheap and there are loads of pre-owned ones.

So what would you suggest they put in place of the blue ray? What would you suggest them to add then to offer a different product than what microsoft is selling? How do you expect gaming to progress from the 9 gig dual layer dvds when current gen gaming needs more than 9gigs to really get the job done? How do you think pirates feel about 10-50gig games over the wii's 4 gigs which are abundant on the internet for download? How do you think the developers feel about piracy? about how their games are showing up on the internet? Do you think they like the added protection? How do you feel about investing in a medium that can offer new experiences with gaming? Do you know what blue ray is? how it works? Are you familiar with the patterns of emerging technology?

Theres a lot to think about. Its easy for someone to say, they shouldnt have added this or that, but they do not think of the alternatives nor the pros and cons of each move.

I believe using blue ray was a good move and because its new. A slow start is never a bad start.

No, don't replace it with anything. Take it out completely in my opinion. Yes, we all know Blue-Ray is the future and has great HD qualities. Now, don't get me wrong, I think Blue-Ray is great, but when added to the PS3, it's pointless. I still agree with them keeping the Blue-Ray DVD players though.

Well, when you say a start, you should post how long of a start. A start could be 1 week or 2 years in different fields. Now this effects if the 'slow' start is actually benefitial to sales.

Sony is taking a long term approach, paving the way for the ps4 and the evolution of planned projects. Look back to the patents Sony has been filing. These things take years to appear after conception, and the PS3, starting with the psp, is paving the way for a long term goal rather than the short term.

Matt, you didnt even try to answer even one of the questions. Have you not seen the thousands of posts here about using the price as an excuse? $599 is not expensive, though if you cannot buy it, then theres nothing you can do about that. If you think its not worth it, then enjoy something else.

Definition of ''GOAL'': Getting filthy rich forcing their ''conception'' into the consumers (a.k.a. BLURAY).

Smart move though, i would have done the same...

And please, let's stop this talk about the PS3 price, we've already filled like 10 pages about that matter...
If you have the money to buy it, and you WANT to buy it...then buy it...
If you don't.....then don't.....

Define a business? A business is meant to be successful as opposed to .. not successfull. Are you saying having a desire to be successful is bad?

As for the filthy rich part... out of all 3 consoles nintendo wii is the only console to make a profit on their console. Both microsoft and sony lose money every time someone buys it. So when someone buys a PS3, sony loses $250. That kind of ruins the whole "filthy rich" greedy business spin doesnt it?

Sony has movie studios, piracy is costing the entertainment business a lot of money. Wanting to have blue ray a success is not suprising nor should it be frowned upon.

Also.. blue ray isnt just sony. It was jointly developed by:

Apple Computer, Inc.
Dell Inc.
Hewlett Packard Company
Hitachi, Ltd.
LG Electronics Inc.
Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.
Mitsubishi Electric Corporation
Pioneer Corporation
Royal Philips Electronics
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.
Sharp Corporation
Sony Corporation
Sun Microsystems, Inc.
TDK Corporation
Thomson Multimedia
Twentieth Century Fox
Walt Disney Pictures
Warner Bros. Entertainment

^ bet a lot of sony haters didnt know that.

once they stop complaining about the price, they have nothing left to complain about thus they stick to it like flies to a fresh poop. ... ew

"Bach reckons that the growth of Xbox Live and sales of Xbox 360 peripherals will contribute to their income massively."

They still lose money per console but try to make up for by other means such as charging for xbox live, accessories like the wi-fi adapter..ect

Microsoft is saying that their initial losses from selling so many 360s will even out because of the other things they make profit on over a certain period of time. They make money from games, xbox live, accessories...ect but lose out on the hardware itself.

Sony, loses the most out of all the systems so far, showing that they are willing to take that loss to offer a visionary/future proof product. Their internet service is free, updates are free, like all consoles they have accessories though, out of the box it is playable. Upgradable HDs, not limited to sony brands and open to third party support.
They will make profit from games, the success of blue ray (along with the other companies that helped develope it), HOME (which has in world advertising and is full of marketing genius that allows users to play online free while sony makes up for their losses)..ect

Did i ever said that nintendo...or microsoft...or any other major company were profitless? No. Their only purpose is to make money, if not...what then? Give food to the poor people? Nah! I don't think so... And since we were talking about the PS3, i just pointed out a PS3 example...
And no, i don't feel pity when you tell me they loose money for their consoles... "OMG, they loose so much for their consoles, and they do that so i can pay less, theyre sooo good!" .....nope.....

For your "nobody knows how many companies are backing up BLURAY"...i'm sure they know, i mean, it's one of their sale points, they're always bragging about how many people (or companies in this case) are backing it up...:yesnod:

And finally...about the price point...just ignore that part of everybody's posts, you know we'll always come with that same argument, it's just pointless to continue with that...

alex, you said they were getting filthy rich off forcing people to buy blue ray. I dont even need to say anymore than what I said. If the goal of a company is to be successful, then they are obviously forcing you the consumer to buy their product right? nope.

And its not companies that are BACKING UP blue ray, as much as the companies that helped develope it. Many here say its a Sony thing, but its much more than just sony. Blue ray is highly misunderstood, misinterpretted and most of all used to define Sony. Which is ignorant.

I'll just slip in here while Shift is pwning...

...but this thread is a classic. :)

My deeear Shift, you perfectly undrestood what i meant with "backing up"... and no, it's not only a sony thing, but it's spearheaded by them (see, as you, i can also make some wiki searchs  ... not that it is a bad thing!... ).
And yes, they DO get filthy rich, all of them (not only sony for your sake! ).

Please, and REALLY...PLEASE... stop defending sony (talking about the money thing), it's really good for THEM to be successful...but that doesn't change anything in my life... i don't eat because of their PS3 sales (or any other product made by them), i think you don't either...or maybe you do... :yesnod:
