Amongst (supposed) Final Fantasy fans, I hear much bashing towards VIII. What's your take on the haters? Legit, or post-VI snobbery?

I understand where they're coming from. With VII you had a decent level up system, while with VIII you could just keep fighting weak enemies and level up that way. No matter what you level up at the same pace. Magic is almost useless and is only good for equipping to your character, so your better off leveling up with magic. But if Squaresoft had kept it the same as VII then the fans would complain about it not being different. i like all three of the Final Fantasies on Ps1. But VIII was the first game that ever kept me up all night. The story is just lovely! >;C
