Will Miis saved on Wiimotes be erased during wii format?

So i want to format my wii system, and start over. However, i dont want to lose the miis that have been created on the hardware. If i transfer the miis to the wiimote, will it remain untouched after the formatting has been completed? Or will the system format the wiimotes as well?

If you have 2 Wiimotes, store your Mii's in one and remove the batteries. I don't think the Wiimote gets formatted during System format, but I never formatted my system before.

i dont think it will be saved. i mean when u put the miis on the wii remote cuz the wii haz the data so it might erase it. and it will erase all of your game data

The Wiimote has seperate memory.
