DS/GBA and Wii/GC compatibility

I was wondering if anyone has tried a game (such as pokemon Colosseum) in the wii, then tried using the wireless connectivity of a DS to link say pokemon ruby to it... I'm assuming this won't work at all, but has anyone tried anything like this so far? PS if im not making sense let me know!

there is a new pokemon game coming to the wii, and it is supposed to be the first online multiplayer wii game, and also the first to have DS connection features
