mario kart wii: cheap moves?

If you can strafe jump in FPS games, you should be able to snake fairly well in Mario Kart - it is basically the same combo of buttons.

I think snaking is annoying. I can do it myself, but it takes away from the game. You can't focus on the race, instead you'll be snaking. And, snaking gets really annoying, since you have to constantly be pressing button combos. I say, keep drifting, but somehow prevent snaking.
