Multiple wiimotes

We just purchased a new game called playground. When we go to multiplayers is states that we must connect another remote. We have tried multiple things to get the remote to connect. Any suggestions.

press the red sync button on the wii (in the panel next to the disc slot)
then press the red sync button on the remote you want to connect (under the battery cover).
if that doesnt work, press and hold the sync button on the console for 15 seconds to un-sync all the wiimotes. follow the steps above to sync the remotes again

call Nintendo's 1-800 # they are very helpful if your controller is not working and is under warranty they will replace it free of charge.
