i have to say that LittleBigPlanet and GT5 look extremley promising but i really cant see ps3 taking over wii becuase:
-mario kart wii
I don't doubt the PS3 making a comeback this year.
You guys can quote me. Due to XBL and Wiiware, the PS3 isn't going to make second this year. XBL, Wiiware attract start up game companies, and even allow massive game companies to make mini games to float their oversized budgets for other games. In other words it's a buffer zone. Sony doesn't have a buffer zone. That's why they'll fail.
There is good news. Sony is the first company that will be doing price drops $30-$40 per game. At least that's what Sony said. Now if they can do that they'll still be dead last this year, but dramatically catch up and possibly make second next year. This year is the price drop year. All of it hinges on the lowest prices for the biggest bang.
I thought 2006+2007 was 360's year...? Wii outsold in hardware, but overall 360 was still doing extremely good, especially in software sales, quality and even awards.
I always heard Wii gamers saying "2008 is Wii's year" and same for PS3.
I think 2009 is a safer year for PS3. The fact that they've lowered prices and added a lower end model has increased sales greatly.
But unfortunately Nintendo seems to have all it's little duckies(Brawl, Wii Fit, Mario Kart) in a row this year. So, Nintendo's momentum will only increase from next week on.
cantgetawii do u kno how low the price will be and wen is it occuring???
I don't think that the BluRay victory is is the miracle that PS3 was waiting for. It just means that PS3 is the cheapest BluRay player...that's it. MGS4 is the only blockbuster game that's coming out this year and that may mean a good solid 2 months of sales, but then what. GT5 is problably coming out next year and knowing SquarEnix, FF13 is probably coming out in 2010. The blockbusters are being released few and far between which is not really a good recipe IMO. Why the heck does Casino Royale still cost $30 and BluRay won?! This so called "format war" is nothing more than seeing which movie studio wears the most expensive HDDVD or BluRay money hat.
I believe the PS3 will do much better in sales this year, for two reasons: Blu-ray victory and exclusive titles (don't forget about Socom)! Not saying that it will beat out the 360 and Wii though. Just saying it will improve.
i guess a lot of you guys are forgetting Killzone 2, Resistance: Fall of Man 2, and even GTA 4 (even though it's multi).
SONY states that HOME will be released sometime this year. let's just say if all of those titles came out. PS3 will be the console everyone is talking about. but if one or two of them either do not get released or bomb like crap, i have doubts about the PS3 holding out this generation.
hopefully FFXIII will come out this year as well. but as the looks of things, process for that game is slow as hell.
as for blu ray laying down the smack down on HD DVD, it means that sony has won a battle - the next gen format war. and it also makes sense to buy a PS3 if you are looking to watch high def movies. killing 2 birds with 1 stone sounds pretty good to me, right?
sony will have a good year this year. i don't think they will match the wii is terms of sales. i do however, think that they will have a big boost in sales in summer and fall of this year.
Sagema, Sony has PSN games, which are getting better and better. They have cool titles like Everyday Shooter, Super Stardust HD, Pixel Junk Monsters, and soon will be adding the multiplatform titles 1942, Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. They also allow downloading of certain titles, like Warhawk, over the PSN. In addition they also have PS1 games that you can download, although the selection isn't as big as it should be.
I thought STF2 THDR(Freaking long title!) was XBL exclusive? Well Microsoft's continous blunder in being unable to keep their best games exclusive for very long. You won't see Mario Kart going to the PS3. But you will see Lost Planet on the PS3.
Sony still lacks in the independant games market, which is growing dramatically each year. It's clear the large companies don't want to break out of the mold, and they will rely heavily on more independant game developement. Which come from low budget start ups that are more willing to take the risk; so big companies can later move in and steal their ideas. The good news is we'll see companies like Konami start to overtake and destroy EA in sheer sales.
This year the consoles won't suffer in sales, the companies that support them will. To be more precise the crappy companies. Atari, EA, Namco Bandai, and Eidos. Let's hope EA can't manage a Take Two buy out. If EA can't manage that, they will slip further down that top 10 list this year.
