Ubisoft today announced that it’s bringing a novel concept in dance video games to the Wii, in the unlikely shape of The Smurfs Dance Party. The game is based on Sony Pictures Animation’s 3D family comedy, The Smurfs, which sees the Smurfs being chased out of their village and through a magic portal to New York’s Central Park by the fiendishly evil wizard Gargamel. Developed for the Wii, the game mixes chart-topping tracks with classic tunes in over 20 fun dances created by professional choreographers and led by characters from The Smurfs, including the likes of Smurfette, Papa Smurf, Clumsy, Brainy, Gutsy and even the dastardly Gargamel himself. A wide selection of musical genres will be featured in the game, including Pop, R&B, Rock and Punk. Surely there should be some “Blues” too?! Each track has unique choreography and can accommodate up to four dancers in Party Mode. Fans can expect the game to hit the stores in July 2011, exclusively for Wii.
