    TVTropes says:

RahXephon: Neon Genesis Evangelion, as written by someone who isn't suicidally depressed and literally making it up as he goes along.

Where Evangelion is about dysfunction and despair cloaked in the arcanobabble of the Kaballah and Judeo-Christian myth, Rah Xephon is about transcendence and revelation, blending musical imagery and Mayan lore to produce a result that is thematically the total opposite to the bleakness of Evangelion's climax, even though the plot points are suspiciously similar.

I like the bleakness and depression of Eva, I just didn't like that tedious mindf**k (especially at the end).

There's another six episodes to go, and a film that's coming out later this year.

Irony is that RahXephon's theme sounds more depressing than NGE's. I like it more as well...
    Yeah.

    First tidbit of the plot:
It's 2012, and Ordinary High School Student Ayato Kamina lives in a sharply delimited world. Three years earlier, something happened that enclosed Tokyo in an impenetrable shell.

Well that means Japan is going to disappear this year!! Oh noes not Nintendo!! This forum's purpose will be ultimately destroyed!! The anime, think of the nerds!!!! NOOOO!!

    E-hem, yeah sounds interesting.

    So far so good

Lol car chase with Lupin on a horse
We dodged the skynet thing as well as some other lesser scifi plots so I think we can avoid that one

    Fate/Stay Night

Plot Summary: Shirou Emiya lost his parents in a fire when he was young and was later adopted by a sorcerer by the name of Kiritsugu Emiya. Although he was full of admiration for his adopted father and yearns to become an ally of justice, Shirou has limited powers and was unable to become a strong sorcerer like his father. That is until one fateful day, he was drawn into the Holy Grail War and had to summon a female "Servant" known as Saber in order to protect himself. It turns out that the Holy Grail War involves a series of battles among powerful sorcerers to fight for the possession of a relic that will grant one's wishes, the Holy Grail. There are altogether seven "Masters" who can summon their respective "Servants"from different classes known as Saber, Archer, Rider, Berserker, Lancer, Caster and Assassin. These "Servants" have to hide their names in order not to reveal their weaknesses to the enemies. The story revolves around Shirou and his entanglement in the Holy Grail War.

Episode 12-13 is a little surprising. I don't really watch anime, but since my parents our out of town and I'm stuck at the house for the weekend... I had to do something. We got rid of our TV and my Wii is busted -.-. Oh well, the anime is interesting and it's good enough that I don't consider it a waste of time.

As always, it helps to know what sort of series you like.

The game was great too. One of the issues though is that the anime isn't entirely loyal to the game, which is made apparently clear by one of my friends every time a new episode comes out. Doesn't affect me too much as I havent played through the game entirely so most of it is new to me.

Only 13 episodes are planned as far as I know, so it's going to be moving quickly through the story.

@Prinny: yeh there is one, based on the first series i'm pretty sure. But i'm playing disgaea 3, its pretty good too.
@Monsteroids/Roast: The game was epic, one of my favourites for sure. The anime's kinda meh but i never read the manga....
@Napalm: I like most anime really... maybe i'll have a look at my anime lists top 10 or something, see what i can find.
