Wi remote slides of bat

I'm having problems with my Wii remote sliding of my tennis racket. I have tried various ways to make it stay attached, but it keeps flying off and very nearly injured someone last time.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I don't get why people let go of the WiiMotes... its not like in real life when your playing tennis when you hit the ball you let go of the raquet.
