Wii always connection to the internet after new patch

My Wii never connected to the internet before the latest patch, now it logs on and off constantly while in standby mode. Seems like it only does this after a certain time, 10pm EST??. What the heck is it doing that it didn't do before?
I know it's doing this because I have Network Magic set up so it tells me the second something logs on and off the network.

Is WiiConnect24 turned on now when you had it off before?

It's probably your WiiConnect 24. That's probably the only thing that might make the wii do this.

No, it always does this. I have the Nintendo WiFi USB connector, and ever since I got the Wii and put it in standby mode with Connect24 on, it switches the internet on and off. Which is annoying, because I keep getting messages to say it's connected. Considering Nintendo want you to use their WiFi connector, it isn't half annoying.
