My friend has a PAL Wii, I have an NTSC one. Would it be possible for us both to hook up to a game of say, super smash brawls, will it work?

(Oh and is there a way to play PAL games on my Wii? If there is it would be greatly appreciated if you could tell me how, I've tried a PAL gamecube game and it didn't work.)
