Will games from China work on US machines?

We have a USA system of Wii.

My son's grandfather is visiting from China and he brought 20 Wii NTSC U/C games from China.

Based on surfing the internet it looks like they should work but the 1st two disks are not being recognized.

Are we out of luck or is there something I am supposed to be doing?

Thanks in advance.

Lol, I thought Wii's were region locked, correct me if I'm wrong. I'm still a noob to Wii's.

There probably copy's

Things from China are mostly knock offs

I'm very much a noob to all games.

Based on more internet research it appears that we are probably out of luck.

Just trying to keep a 6yr old from breaking down! To have 20 new games and no way to play them is like having his dog ran over.

I fill certain they are knock-offs. They came in sleeves (not the plastic box).

Thanks for the advice.

The only way to unlock the Wii is have it modded by a mod chip. which is a big no no. The other way is the Homebrew installer. which does not break the warranty.

Is this software legit?

Just reading about it sounds like it would be ideal.

My son can use a DVD player and $29 bucks is well worth getting to play 20 new games.

You say it doesn't void the warranty?

Yo. Wii's are region locked.

1. US, Mexico and Canada
2. UK, Europe
3. Japan, etc.

etc.

Dunno all of the regions. Just know that you're gonna have a problem trying incompatible regions.
