The 25-year-old Dragon Quest series is justifiably said by RPG fans to be one of the greatest RPG series ever made, so this week’s announcement from Square Enix that Dragon Quest X will be coming to both Wii and Wii U, in Japan at first, and then presumably throughout the rest of the world, will have made a lot of fans very happy. TechCrunch reports that the announcement was made in Tokyo last week, ahead of the Tokyo Game Show. Somewhat surprisingly, Dragon Quest X: Awakening of the Five Tribes Online, will be an online game, as the title suggests. According to TechCrunch, the game world will be the same on both Wii and Wii U, and players will also be able to use their Nintendo 3DS to transfer and share their game data. Although Square Enix isn’t giving too much away about gameplay at the moment, TechCrunch says that it will involve players forming online parties with other players, and creating characters chosen from one of five races. Those playing the offline game will get to play and interact with NPCs. The game is set in the world of Astortia, which is spread across five continents. Square Enix has also released the first official screenshot from the Japanese Wii version of the game (see above). You can imagine that the Wii U version will be even more impressive!

An MMO on the WiiU? Cool. An MMO on the Wii? Who would of thought.

Although, the fact it's multi-platforming on both the Wii and WiiU makes me rather disappointed... That's a bad sign, IMO.
