Face it, Blu-Ray is needed

High end PCs are above the PS3 though and PC gaming hasnt seemed to need Blueray or HDDVD for games yet so how necessary is it really?

PC's install games on their hard drive and do not play via disc. I tried vanguard out for the pc a few months ago, it was taking up 18gigabytes of space.
Basically what you have to keep in mind is that PCs rely on those big storage spaces but rather than play them from a disk, they save the data onto an internal device.

In essence, the ps3 and the PC are the same in this regard. Feel free to guess how big some next gen PC titles will be.

Vanguard was total garbage. I beta tested the game for months. It's the only game I have ever played where I ran out of RAM after running in one direction for 15 mins, sometimes less(1gb ram, 512ram 3d card). I'm glad they didn't put this game on the PS3, and instead chose to support Oblivion.

twas a waste of money. The game barely ran on my 7800 GTX with 2gigs of ram. But thats off topic. I am looking forward to see what SOE can come up with to counter the Xbox's impressive MMORPG lineup.

Well, I know it's not an RPG but I think that PlanetSide would just be amazing to put on the PS3. I've never actually played the game but the concept of such a huge FPS is wonderful. Also, maybe Sony could work with Capcom and try to make them make a MMO of Monster Hunter (never got to play the original on PS2 so I don't know how the online worked on that).

Hey Shiftallout, what about the fact that Sony/blu-ray REFUSES to realease porno's on blu-ray ? I know that you knew this little tid-bit of info, but probably forgot to mention this in your "Non-biased balanced posts"

Oh and for all you that want proof, just simply Google "blu-ray porno"

Wow, its like history repeating itself, this is exactly what happend with betamax, and this is one of the main reasons that VHS triumphed over betamax, the porn industry stood behind VHS, just as there standing behind HD-DVD.

Once again, sucks to be blu-ray.

You are missing the point. The fact that VHS creamed betamax in the consumer market was because the p0rn industry was behind VHS. We are talking about a billion (perhaps trillion) dollar industry.

Today I don't know if it will make the difference since p0rn is now available on the net for free. The p0rn industry has lost a lot of money to the Internet so it's not as powerful as it was in the past
