Gaz said:110db isn't even that loud, seeing as how a normal conversation is averaged at 60db, double that and it's a little bit less, doesn't sound to bad to me.
Eagles said:lmao, you haven't done sound in physics? It's not a linear scale.
L= 10 log I/I(0)
Where L is the loudness in dB and I is the intensity in W/m^2 and I(0) refers to the threshold of human hearing, i.e 10^-12 W/m^2.
Hence a sound of 60dB has an intensity of 1 x 10^-6 W/m^2 and a sound of 110dB has an intensity of 0.1 W/m^2
Thus a sound of 110 dB is 10000 times more intense then a sound 60 dB that's why it's equivalent to a very loud rock concert

Eagles said:I revised those calcs recently so it gave me some more practice It might of been easier to follow if Wii Chat had super script rather then me having to use the ^ key
ok it's been 2 years since i did physics, and even then sound as in the db was not covered at a-levels, and didn't choose to look it up.Eagles said:lmao, you haven't done sound in physics?
