Other forums that use the reputation system tend to disable the ability to leave negative rep points.

Maybe that's something worth considering here.

why take it away?

it just needs to be used accordingly. stupid members arent as tactful as the rest of us and those who give negative reps should think 2x before doing so.

there should be guidelines because common sense just doesnt apply.

i havent had a bad rep since wii <333 who i assume has been banned because they havent been on in about a month or 2 and they were in the grey zone.

just dont post stupid things in teh wrong places and do your research. then when it comes time to rep, think if its worth reping for one and 2, if this is something that will help the person youre reping (not just piss them off for ammusement)

it shouldnt have to even out. it should just be done accordingly. if you dont know the member very well and they come across you as a jerk or friendly, take the time out to see how they post, how they interact with other members (esp the high profile ones like me) ect.

its just all common sense like i wrote above except no one seems to have any. i have plenty of people who would be concidered "assh*les" by those that dont know their posting habits but i can assure you i never dole out a bad rep because of it. i only give out the bad reps when people deserve it such as ganging up on a member and not listening to what others are saying or are just plain stupid.

i think reps should be allowed after a member reaches a certain ammount of posts (like 200 or something) or until someone of high profile reps them.

Yeah, you're right. Would avoid people getting there friends to join just to give them rep too (though, they'd have to be pretty flaming desperate to do that :] rolleyes). I still recon it would be cool if the rep system was made more popular though (though I must admit the popularity of it is definitly growing). What I mean is, like having an extra yet small bar in a sig, say 100x30, which gives them a sort of rep rating or name like 'Noobie' then 'Rookie' etc.. or something nintendo related, where you could start off as something rubbish, then you can work up to say 'Mario', in which people will want to post well etc.. in which to achieve that and become easily respected. Just a thought :] (ta for rep TLC :])

no thats a bad idea knowing how many rep points you truely have because its easy to screw up. you can be doing really well and then BAMN someone reps you badly out of the blue. however the green bars should say the newb, rookie, pro, vet, ect. kind of like a police ranking system if you will (not be called officer, sarg, lieu, ect im saying along those lines)

not this on a distinguished road or somewhat famous. thats a bit stupid IMO
