Nintendo bans Manhunt 2 for Wii

an AO game will not be released (at least not to the masses) plain and simple... in the end, Rockstar is going to tone the game down and it will get released b/c there is no way they are going to just forget about it as they are pretty much done with the game now if they aren't already, it would simply be a waste not to change a few things so it could get an M rating and they could sell some copies and make some money... /rant

made me laugh.

I can't decide if I just want to play this because of the controversy. This isn't typically the type of game I like. :wtf:

...you do know the rating AO is basicly a death trap don't you? Most stores don't even stock games of that rating. Weither Nintendo and Sony aloud it or not, they probably wouldnt get the sales they want. Most games rated AO are basicly porn games. They should try and make it M if this is the case.

ADULTS ONLY
Titles rated AO (Adults Only) have content that should only be played by persons 18 years and older. Titles in this category may include prolonged scenes of intense violence and/or graphic sexual content and nudity.

i think they should have made it a M title to begin with. don't they know the media is way up their asses on their games? they should be smarter than this. cost more money now and it's delayed. waste of time for them and for us gamers.

ive played grantheftauto its cool but i dont wanna see all that because wii is the family system on reviews ane everything thats why they wont rea=lease it but i dont care i like sports and war games and way

i dont even think you can get AO rated games anywhere. lol who would want 2?

I played manhunt, sure you could do things that were graphically violent and depicted acts of insanity and horrible violent gory things, but only someone mentally ill would actually go out and commit any of the acts.

Wow you hide in the shadows, like many other games. For example Oblivion has a stealth meter, what about a game based on stealth theft and killings in the medieval era? Thief: Deadly Shadows - Oh noes ban it!) and in manhunt you stalk "Insane criminal gang members bent on killing you". So you have to take them out first. Really, it is just a game with a different concept and delivery that is too radical compared to "barbies horsie rides again" so Sony, and obviously nintendo don't want to allow it on their systems.

All this really proves is that Sony and Nintendo make the AO rating completely useless, and therefor the system was flawed in the first place. Which was obvious anyway. My nephew was playing Socom before he could even read. He is not going out and shooting anyone, hell he couldn't even lift the gun let alone operate it. It doesn't matter, anyone who wants to play it can play it on the PC anyway, which are actually much more abundant and accessible than any console in the national home index and has been corrupting children's minds for years! Another point is that the ESRB only really prevents kids from buying the game. After all the parent can come in, purchase it, and give it to the kid. The parent, not caring whats in the game or expecting the companies to care, gives the game to the kid. I am not one to call "gaming" something that is addictive or a disease, or will cause someone to go kill someone else. It is more of a way that these new generations were raised. And yesteryears generations were growing out of. They can only compare pong to our games of today, they simply don't understand that reading a book, watching tv or a movie don't compare when you can Make your Own story in a game.

However, I would say due to the parents the game may get into the wrong hands and the childs enviroment, if it indicates a situation based in the game, will be hostile due to the almost "simulation" of real-life happenings. It is hard to say but some games do depict things that happen in real life, causing the child to have experienced a sort of dumbed-down unrealistic simulation of said event, causing him to use unrealistic experience as real experience and screw up in a real situation.

So, it is all about psychology, not pills or just simply "its too gory".

ima be honest, games like this dont need to be made. violoence is one thing, but this game is demented. i bet my year salery that 1 idiot who sits around and plays game, has no life etc, will get this game and mimic actions from man hunt and testiy the game influneced him. this kinda stuff dosent need to be seen, let alone played, it just currupts ppls minds. and i know that dosent apply for everyone, but like i said they're ppl who take this stuff to serious and try to play it out. happened with D&D, GTA, Mortal Kombat (i forget the excat story on this though).
I agree. If this doesnt get nipped in the bud now, then what will be next? However, the whole publicity stunt aspect of this particular instance seems like a goldmine.

What about Everquest?

People committed suicide, jumping off of cliffs, because the servers were going to be down for some time.

Don't even start with that pussified bs excuse. Trust me, it is only the person not the game. If a person is MENTALLY ILL they probably would go commit the acts in man-hunt. A person with logic - LISTENS - to the game, you hear what the guy says because "the guy" is telling you what your enemy is and WHY you have to kill them.

They're insane gang-members! Come on man its a FREAKING game, anyone that thinks like this clown is NOT a gamer.

Wii, PS2 and PSP (The only consoles it's coming for, or at least was) all don't allow AO games it says products range from E to M

It doesn't really matter if Sony and Nintendo allow the AO game on their console.. it's the fact that it won't sell because of the AO rating that the Nintendo and Sony don't want it.. Console companies want games that will sell.. Although it will probably sell, it won't sell anywhere near the amount it would if it was rated M..

Well how incredibly hardcore is this game for it to be banned in multiple countries (or have the possibility to be)?
i dont know if this has been mentioned anywhere but i remember watching a doco on the first manhunt game and apparently a 14yr old kid played the game solidly for so long that he became completely desencitised and lost all grip on reality before stabbing his best friend 48 times and removing his tounge. This case was disputed for so long and after all evidence and opinions from a number of shrinks it was accually determained to be influenced from the game.

However crap like this never gets banned in NZ so ill be able to get a copy, though it looks like it might be only the 360 getting it so far and that could soon change

They will more than likely edit it. To get hype they probably made a gory demo so it would become huge in the media. They will tone it down. Of course it IS rockstar, the makers of the porn in GTA: SA. Who knows what they are going to do in Manhunt.

i, personally think releasing it with an M rating is a shrewd compromise. At least as far as consoles go. But i would prefer to play it the way it was intend though.
maybe it will be released uncut on a different console or maybe on the pc.

either way, i'm very interested to see how it makes use of a wiimote.

Tesco , WhSmiths , Gamestation, blockbutsers have been selling thus game since Launch and still sell it now from £8 - £16
its worth the money if u like sh*t games full mof violence like me
