Any shotgun pros want to share some tips?

I never used shotguns on my old account. In fact, I dont believe I even finished a single pro for any of them except the Masty. But now that Im in noobsville I started screwing around with them and holy hell they're fun.

Question

Is it me or does extended mag completely F-up the shotguns? I started noticing this, but now Im sure because yesterday when I spawned I took two shots and my shotgun was empty... Died on reload.

ADS seems broken... or it seems like you have to complete the animation, even if you have locked, before you fire. Is this the trick? 99% of my kills are from the hip, seems like ADS never works... Any tips?

Never played Goldeneye Wii, but the basic tips are that you want to flank your enemies rather than running towards them. Shooting the upper chest works better for me rather than headshots.

Then again, that's what I remember from Hat Fortress 2, so it might not apply well in this game.

Shotguns... don't use ADS... run'n'gun and hipshots. Close the distance before pulling the trigger.

Ads works, just not long distance. It's for the dudes slightly further then the ones you usually hipfire.

Actually body shots work better for shotguns as it increases the amount of pellets that hit your target.

^ This. From my CoD experience and ESPECIALLY my RDR experience, body shots with a shotty are a necessity to get the most kills.

I emphasize my RDR experience so much because a headshot is always an insta-kill, unlike most shooters. Even at point blank and aiming straight at their face, with auto aim, you may not get a single bit of buck in their skull and if you're not using the most powerful shotty, may even fail to kill. Aim for center mass or bust, son.

Does it say anywhere what type of loads are in the shotguns of GE? Buckshot? Birdshot? Slugs?

That's a good question. But I don't think so. If you play in split screen mode and turn paintball mode on, and shoot at a wall; you'll see the different spray patterns for each shotgun. For example, the Segs2020 has a wider spray than let's say the Pt-9, but thats the only difference that I've noticed.
As far as tips, the flanking, upperbody, and close the distance are all good advice.

Hah. I was thinking the same thing.

But this demands deciphering.

"high clip just puts a bullet in the sniper and shotgun worthless"

I really feel what he is trying to say is that the adjective "high"; metaphorically speaking, is superior, near God-like. Clip of course is the noun, perhaps his IGN. "High Clip" is of course, a very able marksman whom never misses. 'just puts a bullet in the sniper" speaks for itself. And finally "shotgun worthless", certainly against a skilled opponent such as High Clip, shotgun is utterly worthless.

As a lvl 56 "run n' gun" specialist, I am particularly adept as using shotguns. Here's my tips:
1) Masterton rulez: With the rapid-fire ability of this gun, it actually has some range. Snap works well at further distance than other SGs, and always aim lower-body - never at head. The muzzle climb is significant.
2) Best non-masty shotgun for me is the Drumhead. I think it is the best all-around single-shot-shotty. Good stopping power, a circular spread, and reasonable reload time make this a formidable weapon in archives/sewer. If not using masty, I recommend this gun with Snapshot and Lightfoot - accuracy and speed. You don't necessarally need HH with this - center mass is usually enough at close range.
3) Good technique with a shotgun is to forward-staffe while shooting. Shotguns in GE tend to hip fire more accurately while moving than most weapons. Moving toward your opponent while making a left or right drift will help you close distance for accuracy and increase damage.
4) Reloading a little more often can be better than fully reloading less - realize that you don't have to reload to full every time. Good players never need more than 1-2 shots at most to take someone down. Often, if you are down to 2 shells...by the time you reload to full, you will die trying.

Tampa: offcourse masterton is gonna get you kills. On close range there is hardly an answer to that weapon.Which in a way kinda sucks. I hate playing against lvl 56 who only use the masteron. Even on such maps as outpost, and just remain in close quarter areas throughout the match.

Thanks TampaBondo for the tips.

I don't have the Drumhead anymore. But at least I have something new to look forward to...

Which shotguns need HH?

I think Ill practice the reload glitch for shotguns. Never found it useful enough to perfect, but it does work occasionally by accident.

What I really need to do is start using melee attacks... Ive gotten so use to hipfire with autos that I rarely use melee anymore.
