First off, let me say that unless you want a bowling game that supports league play, don't buy Brunswick Pro Bowling. Wii Sports Resort bowling is much better, but does not allow you to bowl against a computer player. Avoid AMF bowling. It is absolutely worthless.
If you must have a bowling game that lets you play against a computer character then Brunswick Pro Bowling is all there is that is even half way decent.
The big problem with the Brunswick game is it is designed to start you out as a beginner and advance you in skill as you bowl. This means that no matter how well you can actually play, the game will control the outcome of your gamel. When you start out this is not such a big deal. You expect to bowl bad because you are a beginner.
As you advance in skill though the game continues to try to trip you up and control how well you can bowl, and this can be quite frustrating. Here are some of the ways the game will trip you up:
1. The ball will not roll causing you to miss to the right, usually ending up in a split.
2. The lane condition will change mid game and then change again usually ending up in a split.
3. Direct pocket hits will result in a sticking a nine pin. Over and over.
4. Direct pocket hits will result in a large split. The 7, 8, 10 is seen a lot. This split is rarely seen in the real world.
5. Split leaves in the first or second frame.
The way to defeat the anomalies in the game is to save your game after each bowling game. Also, if you have an SD card.. copy your save file to the SD card at the beginning of each bowling set. When any of the above actions take place then you have the option of letting it go, or resetting and playing the current game over.
Some of the NPC players are better than others. Luther is especially tough. The game has a habit of changing your opponent if you reset the game on the first game of the set. It will change your opponent to Luther. Now you have a much more difficult challenge. If you have saved your game to the SD card and your want your original opponent back, then just load the save off the SD card.
I have no idea how Crave accomplishes the above action since resetting is suppose to dump any unsaved data, but it happens too often to be coincidence. I have a feeling they mark the current save in some manner to indicate a reset has taken place.
Of course, in reality, resetting the game is sort of cheating, so it is up to you if you want to reset or not reset.
