Castro Steps Down!

Because Unitedstatians just don't understand and have everything disfigurated and distorted by History books

^I couldn't agree with you more.

Communism=The devil's government

Oh, Well thanks, Leve, for agreeing with me...As weird and contradictory as that sounds.

You all realize that Napalm asked why you are all upset that a evil dictator has just stood down? Basically asking why you all like evil men?

The Devil is imaginary...In my view.

I like the idea of communism and it could work it is just that is has always been implemented by those who want trouble.

Yes, and in that case, being a past partner of Castro, was Che Guevara evil too? your political views don't reflect your sentiments; he is a very immense icon in the world of today and now as opposed to when he was alive, except for his patients and leper friends and indian followers of the Inca tribes. I believe the same will happen to Castro and people will resurface to his idolatry.

...yes.

That was my point. We've ALWAYS been taught to associate Communism with bad things. It isn't just implied, teachers tell us that communism is bad, which is very naive. I don't support Castro by any means, I would just like to see someone with good intentions attempt to impliment Communism.

Calling communism bad is like calling all Major Baseball Leagues bad because, in the past, a few players chose to take steroids.

Is more like a distortion, like the word "*****" that's not a bad word in reality, it's just the term for a female dog, and now Communism is distorted into a whole nother meaning just like *****.

I thought for sure he was dead, haven't heard much about him or from him.
Made for a good history discussion at school last semester though.

Hey "comrades", you do realise this is a guy who forced his way into power, stagnated his country's growth, and imprisoned anyone who dared to suggest voting for their leaders? Alright, he's nowhere near as bad as Stalin, but why are so upset about him stepping down?
And your point? He over-threw an oppressive government and created a better one (in my view). What communistic leader doesn't imprison citizens who vote for someone else or run for candidacy? I know they wouldn't be allowed to even live in my regime.

I won't rule out the possibility of democracy, despite power shifting to someone even WORSE it may spark some type of over-throw.

Woah, slow down people. I never said anything about communism itself being evil (I don't agree with it, but I'd hardly call it evil). I asked why you're so upset about the retirement of a guy who essentially a dictator.

Think about that for a moment. The country is run unchecked by a small group of a people who cannot be held accountable for their actions. Recipe for disaster.

Maybe a recipe for disaster but realize how it's generally the most peaceful of nations (besides it's over-armed readiness)- it's mostly democratic societies starting wars and embargoes to help sway their political base.

Castro did well in my opinion, he stuck to his guns and looked out for himself.

I can't agree with you that communism is the best form of government.

On paper, communism seems like the perfect form of government. However, as it has already been noted, it lacks a form of motivation for its citizens. People have nothing to strive for, nothing to work harder for. Nationalism can fill this gap for only a period of time, and guess what has to be resorted to after that? Punishment. It is not solely a coincidence that communism has been used by so many negative leaders. Complete control over land, major industries, and your citizens [with the excuse that 'they weren't working hard enough' begging to be used] just screams for the attention of a power-hungry dictator, does it not?

You're absolutely right when you say that communism would be the best form of government in a perfect world. I'd just like to remind you that this world has never been, and never will be, perfect.

You do have many good points on why Communism isn't the best form of government, because of corrupt leaders and the lack of a perfect world. But my Dad told me one too many times of how the Communism in Poland back in his day kept teenagers off the streets. Which is a pretty big issue in our society this day in age. The second a teenager was spotted way past curfew such as 2 or 3 A.M they were escorted to their home, or taken into custody if under influence or possession of any illegal material. Especially a big group of youths who were usually a "gang" or "mob" in the park after dark, and picked on innocent citizens making their way back home, usually mugging them and at times beating them to death. They were broken up the second night they were seen in the same park (Or even local area or district). And again most of the time taken into custody. That's only one perk about the Communistic government, that could have a huge impact now a days.
