Can you use a Standard Compact Disc card in the Wii for Gamecube games ?

you can get no name memory cards for half the price...but is not reccomended because some may get stuck in your system

Really? LOL I've never heard of someone getting a memory card stuck in their system. That's insane. But yes the OP will need a gamecube memory card.
