Eh, is my girlfriend the only Brit that doesn't hate the American Accent? =P
I like the American accent on women. On men is sounds really camp.

Most probably, yes. If its any consulation, we think the Canadian one is just as annoying... or something.
It all sounds the same to me

Nah. Dude, the word mate isn't used in the American culture.

Lol I was kind enough to show an example

It's not that one is better than the other...crazy Brits!

They're two different cultures... What happened to mocking France together like it's supposed to be?

They became eco friendly and better than us.

I use it, it's more of a man thing though, I only use it when referring to friends, not directly speaking to someone, because that's just damn tacky. Liverpool's, ugh, full of it, so it's managed to get into my speech somehow.

Therefore, we speak the real English (i.e., the one that matters).

Atom don't be a retard.
It's called ENGLISH for a reason. American English is stupid.

And I use 'Mate' alot. It's easier than saying
Hello Friend. How are you?

uhhh what?

us and canada are so big and packed with so many cultures you can't pick an accent to represent either

AND JUST FOR THE RECORD

no one says "hello friend"

it's more like "hey what's up"
"yo dude"
"hey man"
or just "hello" by itself

...some interesting reponses in here D:

I've probably never used the word "mate" in the capacity we're talking about here. People assume Kiwis say it, but we don't...at least not where I'm from.
Oh, and nobody in Toronto uses it either.

AND WTF IS A CANADIAN ACCENT? How is it "annoying"?
Just FYI, NOBODY in Toronto...NOOOOOBODY says "eh" or "aboot".
