heh,

you'll find the manufacturing date at the back of the console, in the area
where the wifi adaptor/video out and power leads connect.

whether it's a "bad" one or not is irrelevant. if it's gonna go, it's gonna go.
although hopefully, M$ will have made subtle changes to the hardware to
minimise the 3RLOD. they have however, now opted to give buyers a 3
years warranty which should give you peace of mind should it break.

to help matters, there are things you can do to "prevent" the xbox
overheating.

lie it flat in a well ventilated area, i.e. don't cram it into a closed unit
A/V rack on top of other equipment which give off heat.
if it's going to be exposed to dust (near a carpet) make sure that you
check the fans at the back on a regular basis to see whether any crap
is accumulating...if it is, get one of those "compressed air" cannisters to
blow the dust/dead skin cells away.

yep. follow his advice. Also their ustomer service is very nice just so you know and they're quite quick about getting a replacement to ya thank god!

Ya have it lie flat in an open area.
