Is it possible to play my DVD's on my Wii?

I was searching for Wii stuff on ebay and I came across a person selling info on how to watch DVD'S on a Wii. I don't believe that it is possible to do so but the person is in another country so maybe the system is programed differently? PLEASE let me know if it is possible to watch movies on my Wii.

No you can't play DVD's on the wii, i think it is possible with a mod-chip. But that is illegal and could damage your wii.
