Of Clouds and Stars
In the grass we were together
Eyes upon the sky
We laughed at the shapes we saw
But who the hell knows why
Our hearts may have shimmered
A sparkle in our eye?
I'm forced to remember
And it makes me want to cry
In the grass they lie together
Eyes upon the black,
Counting stationary fireflies
Are they looking back?
Stirring misty memories
I'm foggy, they're on track
Their love seems responsible
For this mental heart attack

Mirrors come with dirt
Cleaning it off, often hurts
To clean you must face pain
Forgive and address shame
Because we wish to see
Ourself in clarity
We scrub the dirt away
From places deep and dark
Grudges that drudge our heart
Each and every day
With effort time can show
A reflection which we know
One we wish to see

Make me a Tree
Make me a tree, tall and strong
With roots grasping deep in the ground
Rings upon rings showing wisdom in age
I will see all life desires be found
Make me a tree, let the wind push me
Erect I shall smile in defiance
Let the rain bring its cold
I will drip, but I'll hold
Till the sun honors our alliance
Make me a tree, so secure are my arms
Small creatures flock to my bows
I'll keep them from harm
With my height and my charm.
Such delight a creature's trust allows
Make me a tree, with bouquet of leaves.
My blessings are given for me to share
Lean upon me and rest in my shade
I gift it to all with a breath of fresh air
No thanks need to be made
Make me a tree, let love be proclaimed
By a heart carved in my bark
A banner in which is shown
Hope to those who roam
Alone in the lonesome dark.
Make me a tree, give me seeds
Let them soar in the company of wind
To cultivate in a fragrant field
Where heaven's soul lies concealed.
They'll grow to have never sinned.
Make me a tree, with apples or nuts
To release on the head of passerbys
They'll look up and curse
They can't do much worse
I'll whistle innocently to the skies
Make me a tree in autumn
Let my green sweater brighten and blur
To yellows and browns, orange and red.
Forget the color my leaves once were
Remember this beauty instead
Make me a tree in winter
Free in my birthday suit
I'll seek the pure cover of snow
As people point up from below
Grinning and saying I'm cute
Make me a tree when the steel comes
To hack and to slash and cut up.
I'll weep and stand tall
When it is time that I fall
My cuts will bleed maple syrup.
Make me a tree, tall and strong

The lighting is too bright
The font is too tight
