the 360 isn't as "region free" as the PS3.

there are region free games available (see playasia.com) but the
quantity is fairly insignificant compared to the full catalogue of PAL
games available.

the HD-DVD drive as far as i'm aware is still region free whilst the
HD-DVD lobby decide upon what type of region protection they want
added....this means that even when region protection is added to
HD-DVD's the current batch of drives will still play disks from any region.

personally, i wouldn't buy an NTSC 360....save your pennies and get the
PAL elite when it debuts here during August / September.

you're quite right saying that the 360 elite will be £330.

but....(and there always is one isn't there?) what if your 360 decides
to give up the ghost?
i know M$ have introduced a 3 year warranty as standard, but i don't
know if this covers grey imports...

before you part with your hard earned moolah, i'd do some homework and
find out if your NTSC machine is coverd in PAL territories, you might be in
for a nasty shock if it isn't, which could lead to expensive repair work
which will be false economy.
